The seven Maharbote houses

  • Banga (ဘင်္ဂ) – Self-reliance. Traditionally linked to self-made fortune: effort and independence, with success that tends to come later in life.
  • Ahtung (အထွန်း) – Brightness & growth. Associated with talent that emerges and grows over time, and rising standing in family and community.
  • Yaza (ရာဇာ) – Dignity & leadership. The “royal” house: dignity, leadership and public recognition.
  • Adipati (အဓိပတိ) – Authority. The “lordship” house: authority, decisiveness and responsibility for others.
  • Marana (မရဏ) – Caution. A cautionary house: traditionally advises care with health and risk, and the value of change and renewal.
  • Thoke (သိုက်) – Treasure & thrift. The “treasure” house: thrift, accumulation and hidden resources.
  • Puti (ပုတိ) – Reflection & merit. Associated with reflection, spiritual inclination and a pull towards merit-making and service.

House = (Myanmar year − weekday number) mod 7, with Saturday = 0 … Friday = 6.
